I have chains but never put them on, makes it bouncy and it ends up doing a crappy job so I have to shovel a thin layer off the driveway.

This year I'm thinking about using my neighbors method, she just drives her car up and down the driveway until it's all packed smooth. A heater and a radio while clearing snow, what a novel idea.

You must have a really small snow blower if that happens...

I can't do that, or I won't fit into the garage

My truck doesn't fit in the garage anyway, too many toys. Only reason I don't do that is in case anything were to happen to me I know how bad it sucks to wheel the ambulance cot up unshoveled driveways.

Snow blower is pretty small but packs quite a punch. Couple years ago we had about 8 inches of snow followed by a day of freezing rain which left us with 8 inches of ice. When my neighbors PTO driven snow blower kept clogging he came over and borrowed mine to finish the job. Has the same motor as my buddies but his is about twice the size, really keeps the auger spinning.

Here, if someone slips and falls because we didn't clean our driveway, we're legally responsible for their injury

Those wheels and tires look really nice! I prefer not using chains either. Not a big fan of the "hopping" that it causes (the tires to that enough on their own).

You went from and to the exact same thing that I'd like to do. My problem is that the axles have seized together so its a royal PITA to turn the damn thing (15yr old 26" 8hp Craftsman). I know it is supposed to aid in traction in the snow, but it sure it a bitch to manuever the thing in the garage. As far as I'm concerned, this is making me wear out my tires faster....so I'm in no hurry to repalce them. Now I gotta get it started before the snow comes! I was hoping to get mine sanded down and repainted too, but that never happened. I forgot about it and the summer just flew by.
