Any particular reason you aren't just going true dual straight pipe if you are going to straight pipe it? Why have the Y? I have an 18" magnaflow that is medium loud and I bet the 14" straight flow through would be pretty loud but still sound decent. :dunno:

because you cant on these trucks it duals into one pipe and comes out 3" to the muffler

and i had that little muffler like your talking about on my 97 and i hated it sounded like shit

:wtf:

You can do whatever you want with the exhaust...

If you're using a y pipe though, why not just keep the stock one? The magnaflow one you have listed is almost the exact same size (and the difference between the stock 2.75" pipe and 3" pipe won't make any difference on a stock 5.3L)
Cause the stock Y goes into a single, now he is using the Magna Y to get back into dual pipes.....

ill most likely just straight pipe it, and if everything goes pretty good, i might have some extra money in the next couple days, so i might be getting this all done next week sometime

i guess if i straight pipe and i dont like it, i can always put a muffler on

If your looking for loud stay away from magnaflow imo. I just had an 11" DI/DO put on my truck and although it is pretty deep it is not overly loud but I'm sure it will break in and get louder.

You just have to know which Magnaflow to get if you want loud. The 4" round bodies, IMO, are the best Magnaflow has to offer. That's also why I run them on my truck. :D

Cody, are you gonna have the exhaust tucked up closer to the body this time? Seems a little low on your old truck.

Are you going with the tips like on your old truck or the ones you posted in the OP with the turn downs?

Oh, and don't expect the MagnaFlow tailpipes to fit right. Mine didn't. They required a little tweaking (twisting since they are 2-piece, and possibly some cutting and re-welding).

Let me know how it sounds Riggs.

I would love to do something with my exhaust...HOWEVER...I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on mufflers, etc to have my truck sound like it needs mufflers at high RPM.

I like a deep burble...I absolutely despise the crackling pop that you get with a lot of systems.

If you went with straight pipes + an x-pipe you eliminate a bunch of the popping. You would likely eliminate more with dynomax bullets and an x pipe which can all be done pretty cheap.
