Equinox gas smell

Hey guys my nieces truck has a real strong odor of gas on the outside of engine compartment have any of you guys heard of this problem I think it's a 2008 model?

I googled, and came up with this out of many.

Check the fuel pressure regulator first...
Pull the little vacuum hose off of it and see if there is any trace of fuel in it.
There should be ZERO fuel in or on the vacuum hose.

If that is OK.. check the fuel purge canister for a broken or disconnected line or a bad solenoid...

Found the gas leak it's by the gas tank were going to see if it's covered under warranty the fuel pump is a dealer item as well it's $800.00 dollars.
