Videos like these make for all the stupid drivers out there. Oh I can just pin it while pulling a 9K pound trailer and go 80mph down the freeway. Good for you, now try and stop the damn thing.

You betcha
NOBODY WITH A 1500 PULLS 9000LB+ TRAILERS MY GOD. If you did, you're an idiot! These commercials set bad examples..."Yeah, my 10K LB 5th wheel really doesn't need a HD truck Ford says their F-150 shouldn't have a problem..."

I used to pull 40,000 pound grain wagons with my F-150. Sure it would have been easier with a bigger truck, but it handled it.

Yeah, but you were hopefully on the shoulder doing 8mph on a country road and not on the freeway with stop and go traffic. :D

Just I case no one realizes GM is due for some new V8s and that the Hemi is overrated.
Chrysler's hemi is not even a hemi.

They just pasted the name on their latest V8 design. It DOES NOT have hemispherical combustion chambers. :dunno:

OH

And these bullshit videos comparing the big three are a joke.

Pretty much, but its still interesting to see. :pfingers:
Im am impressed with the little Ecoboost, but that video doesnt answer my question. " Hows it pull if your not running the Fwonk out of it"? Nobody wants to run their truck like that just to pull their stuff down the road.
When the 4.6 ford came out I bought one. It ran like a stiped ape, but thats how you had to run it to pull a trailer. " Not my idea of a dependable tow vehicle". So I got another Powerstroke.

I wasn't even talking about it being a semi Hemi (I can usually see past marketing names)..more along the lines of despite it having 390hp (and 16 spark plugs) it can't outrun a 320hp Titan and get's it's ass handed to it by Toyota's 380hp V8.

The EcoBoost is pretty good at towing and doesn't need to be rung out to pull, it's got a really flat torque curve that starts really early thanks to it's twin turbos. Is it a Duramax/Cummins/Powerstroke replacement? Hell no, but it is a valid argument against a traditional V8 if it's durability, maintenance, and reliability can be proven over the next few years.

9k isn't overloading a half ton, so I don't see why that's a big deal :dunno:

For that kind of work, you can't beat a good turbo system, gas OR diesel.

It's damned near impossible to get a naturally aspirated engine to have that flat of a torque curve

I'm normally not a Ford fan, but the ecoboost is a wicked little piece of engineering!

Even without the 60 ft/lb torque advantage over the 5.3... The 2011 5.7 has 407 ft/lbs of torque... 1lb less than the Eco-boost.
The 6.2 would be damned close, but I doubt it would BEAT the Eco-Boost... Even with more torque... The torque curve isn't there.

The Eco-Boost would still out pull, just because the torque curve is way better suited.

The whole vid is a crock.
Dodge has 3.02 gears, Ford has 3.73s and the chevy has 3.42s......real "fair" head to head comparo...

It's a manufacturer commercial, so yes, it's a crock.

And if that Dodge had 3.02's, the 5.3 would've spanked it.

With the 6 speed, the 3.42s have the same get-up as your 4 speed with the 3.73's

Even with all the same gear ratios across the board, the eco-boost would've still pulled ahead...

It would've been by a lot less, mind you, but it would've still won.
