Sorry guys that I haven't been on this site much lately, been doing a lot projects around the house (finishing our basement ourselves) and getting my snowmobile all ready for the powder.

My truck was involved in a hit-n-run tonight. We were visiting my wife's Aunt & Uncle's. I was going to take my daughter to the local YMCA where my sister works to see Santa. Put her in her seat, then walked around the driver side of the truck. Noticed a tail light sitting by my rear tire. I immediately thought it was mine, looked and it wasn't. Then thought it might have already been there on the street. Then the street like kicked-on and then I saw the damage. I immediately called the police and explained to them how it appears someone coming out of the driveway across the street backed into the truck and took off.

He took my statement and then went to the house across the street. When he pounded on the front door after the doorbell wouldn't work, the tv in the upstairs bedroom misterously went off and the lights turned off upstairs. This cop was not giving up, he pounded on the door until someone finally answered it. It was a couple in their, I'll take a guess, 60's. He asked if anybody had left their driveway recently. They said their mother just left in a pickup truck. They were able to get a hold of her. I guess she said "I didn't know I hit something". How the heck do you not know you hit something, your tail light is left on the ground! My truck wasn't even directly behind her driveway, it was off too the side.

I thought I would have reacted differently, this is my first accident/claim, ever! I was more sad that my daughter didn't get to see Santa. We're going to visit him next weekend though.

Filed a claim with Progessive, and will be talking to the Progressive Response Agent tomorrow.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. She wasn't just rolling back when she hit it either! Make sure you get her insurance info as well, they should have to cover it since it wasn't your fault.

At least they got who did it and its coming out of her pocket! I got hit, didn't notice it (it wasn't even close to your kind of damage) but I ended up paying for it out of pocket as it didn't exceed my deductible.

Sucks though...:(
