FINALLY got the police report today. The reason it took so long, even though Progressive said they submitted the request on Monday, the actual request didn't come in until last night (Weds). It took me 1 phone call to the police station, drove 5 miles, and $5 to get the report. So, if you're not having Progressive fix the vehicle on your policy, they don't seem to be too much in a hurry. I called my Progressive agent back to tell her I got the report, and her voicemail said she'll be out after 4pm and not back in until next Tuesday! I just talked to her 15 minutes ago, she didn't mention anything about not being back until Tuesday!
So I called the 85-yr-old lady's insurance agency and they took all my information, filed a claim, and found an approved place to get an estimate. I heard about this dealership/collision-center before and they do excellent work. Got an estimate at 5:30, in-and-out in about 20 minutes, came to around $2500. They have to replace the driver-side box panel, pull out the cab corner, etc, etc.
I was able to get all that done in 4 hours, more than I can say for what Progressive did for me in 4 days! Progressive is suppose to stay with you throughout the whole claim process, whether you file with them or not. Don't get me wrong, I really like Progressive, it seemed to just be this local agent.
This collision center ordered parts right away and when they are in I'll be able to schedule the repairs probably the week after Christmas. They said 3-5 business days, barring any surprises they might find.
