Penguin, if you have no amps, how do you have any sound coming out of your speakers, let alone chimes?

Re: Penguin, and others, help me pick a speaker setup.

So that sounds like the chimes either come from the HU or a different module that sends the signal to the HU for transmission.

Sounds right. The difficulty is knowing whether the chime comes through the low-level lines and directly into the Bose amp or whether the signal runs through one of the other wires in that monster loom that also plug into the amp. My guess is the latter and then the amp sends the chime only through the driver's door speaker and it attenuates the level of the chime to always be constant despite the radio volume being variable.

Penguin, go unhook your PDX and run the OEM pre-amp speaker low-level into it for me real fast, could ya? :D

No Bose amps. None.

I have the Alpine PDX, obviously. It is hooked to the PAC line out converter.

Thanks,

I assumed you meant that but twice I saw messages from you that said "no amps" so I wanted to double check. I thought maybe you had it unhooked right now is all.

Worse comes to worse, I'll just use a PAC box. I do not want to leave the Bose amp in place no matter what.

I was speaking in reference to the Bose amp BS.

Both are in a box. I will sell them both to you, cheap.

Re: Penguin, and others, help me pick a speaker setup.

Someone back me up on this but this is the PAC AOEM-GM1416 interface and it appears to me that only 4 pairs of speaker wires and one remote wire are entering the adapter.

That says to me that if Scott uses one and still has chimes without the Bose amp that the HU is sending the chime and warning sounds through the left front speaker wires.

Am I crazy or does that make sense to anyone else?
