I hope they clear 17s !

I wouldn't hold my breath on the parts counter

Just do the swap and let me know :D

Yeah I don't put much stock in part counter "Guru's" You can bet your ass at $750-$1,000 for the complete conversion (rotors, calipers and pads) I'll know BEFORE I purchase.

Just do the swap and hope for the best :D

You can do a much cheaper upgrade. Not quite as good as the vette brakes but much better than what you have now, and using all stock parts. For the front, you can upgrade to the 05-06 truck brakes with the larger rotors. For the rear, get stock dual piston disk brakes from a 00-06 Suburban. For both, you just need to swap the rotors, calipers and pads, and the caliper brackets. You will need to gave at least 17in wheels to fit over the larger front brakes.

Cool. Good info ScottyBoy. So the rear disc brakes on mine are single piston and the Burb's are double?

And when getting the parts I just get everything for the front as if it was an 05-06 Silvy and everything for the rear as if it was an 00-06 Burb.(obviously both 1/2 ton?) So the rear rotors for the Burb are different then mine I take it?

Also does it make a difference on the model or option package on either?

You know I ask because they need to know at the parts store if I have AC and a 5.3 (with the "T" code) to know if a valve stem will fit my truck.

Yeah, I know for sure that my rear calipers have dual pistons. When I was shopping for rotors they were asking if I had the single or dual piston brakes. So I would imagine its a different rotor. And for the front, I know the 05-06 trucks had bigger rotors. Guys on other forums say its a different caliper and pad, but it wouldn't surprise me if its the same caliper but just a different mounting bracket to accommodate the larger rotor. :dunno:

No, I just checked the parts sites. They are listing a different caliper for the 05-06 trucks with rear drum brakes. They list the same caliper if it has rear discs. But if it has rear discs, then it doesn't have the larger front brakes.

Wouldn't it be easier to just upgrade to a set of performance pads and rotors? Just asking. Seems like a lot of guess work when it comes to something important like brakes. I know EBC is expensive but the R&D is already done.:dunno:

Stock brakes sometimes aren't good enough for bigger tires and such.

Though, I'd look at SS brake lines, too.

As far as I know, swapping in the dual piston brakes in is literally just bolt on... You do need the different rotors, however, the ones on the 'burb are thicker.

Yeah, but from reading the link on those that swapped they now have rear wheel lockup on hard braking, that isn't good. I know it can be solved with a proportioning valve but that is just another added cost.

I thought you'd have that problem going from drums to discs, but not from a caliper swap :dunno:
