This is the second time now that my exhaust has come apart while driving, sounds funny, but I find nothing humorous about it.
I tightened those lame ass exhaust clamps supplied by Corsa and my exhaust has come apart while driving twice now the last two times I have driven the truck.
It happens when I'm really getting into the truck in first gear and happen to drive over any bumps or dips in the road. Good thing both times it happened I was 1) one block from my house, and 2) first 1/4 mile from driving home from work in a ghetto area known for crime. The most recent time I was able to pull over, crawl under the truck loosen the bolts with a ratchet, slide the exhaust back together and continue on my merry way before being confronted by any thugs in beautiful Newark.
Taking the day off today to be home for my wife, I decided to try and fix this by buying 2 preformed exhaust clamps. I figured while I had it apart I would remove the exhaust and freshen up the black with another coat of BBQ paint.
Well, the stupid pressed in spline studs on the cat flange broke while trying to gingerly remove the nuts, both of them. So now I need to find a place that will drill them out so I can replace with high strength S/S hardware that won't rust so this isn't an issue anymore in the future.
It's amazing to me how they rusted in less than a year, last year they came right off without any issues, plus I NEVER drove my truck during the winter either.
I love it when a 1-2 hour job turns into an entire day of frustration.
/end rant
