Just was wondering if anyone has ever had any engine issues due to the infamous cold start knock. I remember it being a major topic of discussion at one point.
I just remember so many complaining about it and taking their truck to the dealer and making sure it was in the maintenance records. Some even went as far as to GM giving them a 5yh 100k warranty on the engine. Now here it is 10yrs later for the most part and was wondering if anyone has heard of any one having issues due to it specifically. There has got to be some high mileage, 150 to 200k engines out there that have it. Mine has it and I'm not concerned about it. I was just curious since it has been so long since it was brought to light.
We used to have a Malibu 3.4 that knocked like crazy on startup. Had over 100k on it when we sold it, and it never had any issue other than the noise. None of my Silverados ever had the CSK.
My 2005 Silverado had it. Since the 4.8 - 5.3 engines are known for it and also for going 300,000 miles, I never paid it much mind. I've never heard it in my 2007.
Mine doesn't knock, but it taps pretty noticeably when you're under the hood with it running and pretty loudly in the mornings. But, as y'all know, I'm the type of person who doesn't mind wierd sounds from my engine.
