I love that fairmont! Yeah you can get quite a bit from a 5.3 I just am wondering how DD friendly and reliable a turbo'd 5.3 is. I know that turbos make the most amount of power and are easily adjustable with the boost controller. I want my setup to be as reliable as it is now. I don't know if a turbo fits the bill. I know the TVS is pretty reliable and that's why I am leaning that direction. :dunno:

Sounds like you already have your mind made up :) I don't know of any reliability issues with turbo's, other than people blowing some shit up because they move some air lol. Maybe when they are maxed out they will fry, or after some serious miles have some play. The biggest PITA with a turbo kit will be tapping the oil pan, which consists of dropping the pan, taking it to a shop, and having them drill it and weld in a fitting for the oil. If you want ease of installation then go for a screw everyday, but performance belongs to turbochargers.

You ain't whistling Dixie there. :D I was on line all afternoon yesterday looking for another truck. There are a lot of '01, and '02's for sale with the 8.1. My ex brother-in-law had one in a '01 Silverado. That thing would scoot. Unfortunately, he likes to drink, and well, you get the picture.

The ONLY flaw i see in the 2500 8.1L 4x4 platform is the stupid IFS up front that was an imediate turn off for me.

My buddy has one with dual 5" stacks, yeah gas+ stacks is slightly lame, but not on that truck. That thing would make my heart melt everytime i heard it. It put my dads 5.7L hemi to shame.

Probably a lot of work to fit a big block into a GMT900....

Or anything less than a 3/4 ton, at least
:werd: You can get a ton of power out of BBC but big power isnt all I am looking for. With a BBC I would be lucky to get double digit gas mileage. I can have BBC power and LS engine gas milage with the combo I am looking at. Its the best of both worlds with new technology.
