You could always do both... SC and turbo...

Keep the turbo at minimal boost when daily driving... then crank the biatch up when it comes time to eat the rice

A guy on PT.net played around with the idea for a few months but couldn't get everthing to work out right. I think I will stick with one type of FI for now... until I win the lotto

I really don't know what to do. I kinda want to keep my 5.3 but half of me really wants to bump up to a 6.0....

LS6 cam, 76mm front mount, methanol = Your HP goals. Parish literally ran a junkyard 5.3 in a Ford Fairmont with that exact combo, and with the turbo maxed made 600rwhp and the car was close or in the 9's iirc. Had a TH350 and a very loose converter they were blowing thru.

Centri's are ok, but to me you have the belt slip of a blower with the lag of a turbo. There isn't belt slip until it's spun faster, but when it happens you'd have to swap to 8 rip pulleys. I'd rather use a boost controller.

This is why you need a strong trans, aftermarket locker/street gears, some u joints, etc. When your drive train isn't going to give you can push 300 dollar 5.3's to the limit, blow them up, and put in a new one for $300.

I love that fairmont! Yeah you can get quite a bit from a 5.3 I just am wondering how DD friendly and reliable a turbo'd 5.3 is. I know that turbos make the most amount of power and are easily adjustable with the boost controller. I want my setup to be as reliable as it is now. I don't know if a turbo fits the bill. I know the TVS is pretty reliable and that's why I am leaning that direction. :dunno:
