I have the full width chevy tailgate logo on my 97. I am wanting to remove it so I can have some painting done on it. What is the easiest way to remove it? I figured I would ask before I messed it up too bad. The logo won't be going back on.

Thanks.....Eggman

Rubbing alcohol is your cheapest bet, or you can pick up some Goo Gone or similar adhesive remover from the parts store. Patience is gonna be your most valuable tool though with a piece that's been on that long.

i've used heat a hair dryer works well and brake clean or paint thinner i won't hurt the OE paint that much and if your going to be painting it anyways a small gasket scraper with a rubber tip will work as well. you can use a steel tipped one but be carful not to gouge it

And of coarse strong pound fishing line helps to pull it off while heating it up.

If you're gonna be painting, I'd look around the junkyard for a tailgate from a '98 Silverado that only has the small badge on the corner. Otherwise I think you'll be pulling your hair out trying to get that off :dunno:
