It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
They were talking about the little bitty Cruze getting 40mpg with the diesel...

Back in '81, I had an Olds 98 Regency (the biggest thing Olds made) with the 350 V8 diesel.
After I added true duals and had the pump turned up, it would get 35 mpg if you drove it at around the speed limit.

If a big ol' car like that, with a V8, can get 35... why can't these little cars with tiny engines get better than 40?? :dunno:

That's what I was thinking. Should be able to do a LOT better :wtf:

Along that same line...a new diesel pickup, pulling a heavy trailer, will barely get 10mpg...
My brother drives a big rig and usually runs at about 80,000 lbs gross weight.
His big rig, with 550 hp and 1850 ft lbs of torque will get 6.0 to 6.25 loaded.

From what I have been reading on the Cruze forum, there are guys on there with the 6sp manual Eco getting 50mpg no problems. There are also individuals over there that have already gone to a bigger turbo and exhaust system as well as getting it tuned to get the most out of it. So think of the power that little diesel will bring.

Emissions...reroute some of your own exhaust gases into your intake and see how well you perform. Especially after some good Mexican food.

Performance wise. Yes this should be way better than the Eco model.

However they need to market it that way. Because if all you care about is saving money on fuel then the diesel doesn't look as good. However if you want a car with more performance AND great fuel economy. Then the diesel is the way to go.

Should be way more fun with all that beautiful torque.
