I used to just set mine up in the center of the cab. Since it is magnet mount, put it up when you need it, take it off when you don't. Just route the cable out the door channel.

thats kind of what i was thinking, we could put it in the bed for around town, then when we get offroad throw it on the cab, since the top of the truck is pretty high it would probably hit everything

It justs needs to get the signal over the cab or bed sides

I've got the Cobra and like it. You'll want the antenna mounted as high as you can. Look in my albums if you want an idea of how to mount the antenna. I used a swiveling ball mount that can either point straight up or at an angle. You could mount it on top of your cab and lay the antenna down when you aren't using it then swivel it up when you do.

I have a little wil Wilson magnet antenna, it has a stainless 3' whip that I'd sell ya if your interested. I'm going to be doing a set of whips on the tool box. Shoot me a PM if your interested.

no one ever mounts on the rear bumper? one the old hunting truck nissan i had i used to get a ball and spring set up and mount it to the rear bumper. it got good range and a clear signal. of course i have a cobra 29 WX NW BT . there a little pricey. lol but i liked it because i could always fold it down when i didn't need it
