Use plenty of PB Blaster, and good luck.
beleive it or not...brake fluid will actually work alot better fot rusted and stuck bolts...i have used it on exhuast manifolds and such where pb just wasnt working...so keep that in mind.

Did some searching around, and found these supposedly as the results of the
April 2007 Machinist's Workshop magazine comparison test.

Penetrating oil ..... Average load
None ..................... 516 pounds
WD-40 .................. 238 pounds
PB Blaster ............. 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ..... 127 pounds
Kano Kroil ............ 106 pounds
ATF-Acetone mix....53 pounds

Looks like the homemade mix worked the best. Just keep it away from anything painted that you do not want to damage.

No, the exhaust isn't opened up. But, that will be the next stop after the carb. A buddy who owns Better Off Road here in town, told the other day that he'll make a nice tucked up system for around $300. I have to replace the manifold and remove the old exhaust. He'll dispose of everything for me.

Sounds like a good deal. :)

From my experience, and alot of it after working on aircraft. Patience is always the key. Sometimes it also helps to tighten the bold about 1/4 turn to break the corrosion then start to back it out. I have all kinds of nifty tools for these kinda jobs. I'm just worried about heat set causing them not to come out.

I agree, patience is the key. Getting into a hurry causes mistakes and shortcuts.

A good antiseize is Milk-of-Magnesia. Put it on the bolts threads let it dry and install. We used that on the turbine case bolts on the General Electric J-79 jet engine that went into the F-4 Phantom while I was in the Air Force.

I've been a big fan of zep45, but I find that lighter fluid works pretty good to. And then there's heat!!

Well, not yet. I have about 4 projects all going at once. Carb, painting front porch, sanding back, upper deck, and building a bookcase.

Right now all bolts are have been soaking overnight in a nice little concoction of vinigar (cuts rust) and all lubes I could find in the find in the garage. I have to get his silly bookcase out of the way so the kids and I can push the truck in the garage.

I have got to clone myself!!!!!
