The last time I dealt with Barts was 9 years ago. They were extremely nice and bent over backwards to get the deal that you wanted.

I bought my F-150 from them and they were awesome. Really nice people and would fix just about anything the customer thought was wrong with the vehicle.

That's where my truck came from as well, but they had a store in South Bend then.

The 3.5 is definitely the best of the old 60V6s. Of course the 2.8, 3.1, and 3.4 didn't set the bar very high. Also, kinda sad it took GM almost 25 years (2.8 in 1980 in the otherwise awesome Citation to the 3.5 in the 04 Malibu) to finally make a decent engine out of it.

The 3.5 isn't an old 60V6, it's one of the new ones

It's about time GM put new technology into it, though...

They've always been solid engines... Even the bastard TDOHC 3.4 :D

The 3.5 (LX9) in the 04 and 05 Malibus was part of the old 60V6 line, an updated and enlarged 3.4. It was replaced for 06 by the 3.5 (LZ4) that was based on the supposedly "all-new" 3.9 (LZ9), though I have a suspicion that when they say "all-new" they mean the same "all-new" Ford meant on the 05 and 08 Super Duty.

I guess you're right, they weren't too bad till they switched to Dex-Cool and started dissolving gaskets which was a pretty common problem on most of GM's engines in the 90s.

Good luck. I know several people with that previous body style of Malibu. They're a little small inside for my liking, but that's because I'm a big dude.

We really like our 07 Impala. I bet you could get 10 dead hookers in the trunk, if that's important to you :D

yes I had some serious fun with impala's back in the day..

and I loved my 3.5 in my malibu, I had an 04, man that thing had nice zing to it....accept it had a weird rubbing noise going around corners off camber
