I say fatboy. If you're paying for a harley you're paying for the name and the sound. No matter what you do to the VR it will never sound like a harley.

I think a Harley needs to be a traditional Harley and must have a set of drag pipes. I Like the Heritage Softail Classic myself. Sweet!

If you care about resale, get the fatboy.
If you want the traditional look of a Harley, get the fatboy.
The rear suspension on a fatboy is junk. backwards working shocks. for that reason, I wouldn't recommend it for handling, or comfort (especially with a passenger).
Upright shocks work. Period.
