We have a 96 F250 with a 351 and E4OD that I have been demanding a lot from lately. The transmission had a stock rebuild about 10 years ago and I believe it is giving me signs that it might have to be done again. The last time I was inside an E4OD it was behind my PowerStroke. I ended up turning it over to a professional builder who over built it. Not a bad thing by the way. This truck is a daily driver so I want it to behave as such. However, I want it to be able to take on the heavier loads and bigger hills it is dealing with now. Any input on this?

Just a good rebuild. Check out Sonnax for a kit to help. Heat is the biggest killer, so a good aux cooler would be a must. How much are you pulling? Im not much of a Ford guru, but there may be some tricks to do similar to the GMs, ie Dual feed, line boost, etc.

I installed a couple massive coolers some years back. I believe that is one reason it has lasted as long as it has. I use to know several tricks to make an E4OD a beast. The one behind my PowerStroke has extra clutches, a huge pan, six pinion planetary and a lot more. But that truck has not moved in a long time and I am not trying to over build this one like I had that one done.
