the new ones just arent what they used to. and you could buy like 3-4 batterys for the price of the 1. i have one but i dont think i would pay for another.

some of the duralast have 3-4 year free replacement, while optima is only 1

Gotch ya:thumbs: I guess when the time comes for my stereo I'll have to look at a different route.

alot of car audio guys are using sprinter and oddessy( i think thats how they spell it)batterys

5-7 years old. I have a carquest riding mower battery that still works and its 8-9 years old.[/QUOTE]

Dave that's a long time for a Interstate battery I have never had a battery last that long. I think I wouldn't feel comfortable with one that old only because I go out of town in my truck with no where to buy a battery.

I'm the unlucky one, both the factory AC Delco batteries that we had in my 02 Silverado and my wifes old Venture leaked and made a mess. They were both under warranty at the time so a new one went in. But just recently I got one of Advance Auto's batteries and so far so good.

Then there is Odyssey which from all the reading on my VW diesel forum is a really good battery. That is what I'm going to put in my 01 jetta when it needs a new one. The one in there now is 5yrs old.

It turns out it's spelled ODYSSEY(one of them damn words with silent letters:lol:) and thanks.

I'll start looking at those as viable alternatives.

Not sure if you saw my post. The Odyssey sounds like a good battery for heavy use.
