You'll be glad you did. I love having mine. I very rarely change anything, but knowing I can is great. Especially, when I was still under warranty.

That reminds me. I have a ECM and TCM I need to sell.

Congrats!

Got an e-mail back from Justin with the files and was out cruisin' within 5 minutes. The 6 speed can apparently down shift after all! 0-60 didn't change much but responsiveness is 100% better, give it gas and it actually down shifts a gear or two. Shift times went from 0.9s+ to 0.4 for 1-2 while the others were 0.2 to 0.3. Going to log the 87/89 tune then run this tank out and fill it up with premium and change it to the 91 tune and log that. If the difference is noticeable I'll probably leave it on 91. Reaffirmed that :bbp: is the best $500 that can be spent on a GM truck.

I believe you have a NNBS...you need to run a minimum of 89 even on stock tuning on the 5.3l. You will notice more Hp and MPGs.

I didn't see any knock retard with regular on the stock tune (unless I just didn't look at the right time). Is it cutting timing somewhere else? :dunno:

It is there. You will definitely see a difference with a higher octane due to the compression of the engine. It can not be efficient on 87.

I didn't mean to come off as questioning you if I did. You guys know a helluva a lot more about this stuff than me, just in my nature to analyze and try to understand stuff and didn't see any KR on the AutoCal during my original log (saw plenty after the tune though).

Do you guys mess with cam timing much when doing your tunes on VVT engines?

Didn't take it that way at all, no worries, maybe my response was too terse. You may not have seen the KR in the AutoCal, but the stock tune will pull the timing way back.

To be honest, every vehicle is different, not quite sure on the specifics as to when Justin pulls cam timing.
