Are 350’s still easy to get? If so, how would you build it?

I know what you mean. I love taking engines apart when they start making noises just to see if I can fix it.

I see what you ar saying. Summit has a assload of stuff for the LS.

My wife and I were talking about this today. Her dream car is a GTO Judge. Well, it turns out it is the body style she likes not neccassarily the Judge package. So I can get a LeMans and make nice and she would be happy with that. I made the statement that I would use a modern suspension and an LS in it. She flew off the handle at me. She said she wants to feel and hear that old engine under the hood. I could not for the life of me get her to see why an LS would be a better choice. Women...
Divorce her.

In all seriousness you can make an old car like that handle like a new car (no body roll and a nice ride) and sound just as choppy and nasty as an old SBC with the new LS stuff and get way better gas mileage. A buddy of mine is making a 68 Camaro with all modern suspension and an LY6 for his wife with a 6spd automatic. The thing sounds sick!

I agree, the fuel mileage is the kicker for me. A fun truck like what I want to biuld will be fine with a 350. But if I biuld that car for her she will drive the damn tires off it. So I want a fuel sipper.

My son was good all week in school se he wanted to go junk yard hoping today. I found core 350's between $100 and $200 bucks.

If i would build a car for my ole lady, I wouldnt give her a v8. I'd throw a 4.3 in it. I believe the mounts are the same.

Gas mileage isnt bad, they sound good and there are aftermarket parts that can bring out some HP.

I had a friend who dropped one in his S10 sitting of 38's and D44 axles. He got better fuel mileage after the 4.3 swap then he did with the stock V6 that was in it.
