I've got a son on the way (due in June) and I was looking into Karting. I'm doing some research online but I wanted some opinions from people who have actually done it or have their kids doing it. I'm looking for resources on tracks and good forums. Alabama hasn't really reached internet maturity so finding things on the net for local tracks, shops and series is difficult.

Here is my experience: Built this one from the ground up. 8horse Briggs, welded cam lobs, CAI, Custom Exhaust. It would do around 40-50mph with me on it. No brakes either!

I've looked into it for my son and daughter, but it looks like my son may be the one that ends up getting in to it.The main Kart I've seriously looked at has been the Road Rat Racer XC Cadet. They can sometimes be had brand new for as low as 1300.00.
