Yeah a lot of the LED tails nowadays are direct plug and play. Mine are that way--you pull out the old tail bulbs and plug the led harness into the bulb socket.

I think you'd be fine with any set as long as you go ahead and throw a thick bead of RTV sealant around the lens housing. They have a tendency to leak where the two halves meet, and a lot of people I know have trouble with condensation building up (myself included).

What about a set of denali tails:dunno:

Aren't they LED and they would be direct fit.

Also, do NOT run higher wattage bulbs in the cheap aftermarket tails...

You WILL melt things...

I'm not going to go with something that just plugs into a bulb socket. It's going to have to be better engineered than that. The only set I have seen so far was really cheesy.

Robert. I don't think the Denali lights are LED. They just have a darker band around the outside from what I can see.

Most LED tails plug in like that. I don't see the difference between plugging a harness into a bulb socket as opposed to plugging the bulb itself into the socket. :dunno:

The bulb would be securely inside the tail light - nice and dry. A connection outside the housing would be subject to any water that would find its way around the housing. Big difference to me. I want something that plugs into a factory plug somewhere.

Gotcha--that's a good point. IIRC mine is set up to mimic where the bulb "screws" into the housing, to keep everything safe from the environment. The wiring is tucked inside the housing. I'll check it out tomorrow to be sure.

edit- Read what I just wrote and it really didn't make sense, so I'll try again. IIRC there is an opening in the LED housing set up to mimic the stock hole where the bulb screws in. The harness plugs into the bulb socket and the entire socket screws into the tail housing to keep everything secure.

....I think I just confused myself.
