Since buying my car I am really missing having HID's. I joined up on another forum, but never seem to get an answer other than "use the search function." I went to the forum to learn about my car not try to pick through things to find answers...anyways. I have two bulbs, high and low. The guys on that forum say, that I shouldn't put HID's in the highs because of flicking them on and off so much. Does this really matter? I am sure there are some trucks like this also, that's why I am asking here. I just think it would look dumb to have HID's in the lows and regular bulbs in the highs. :dunno:

I've heard that before as well. With the cheaper kits, just flicking them on for a few seconds and turning them right back off will kill the life.

Depends on where you live i suppose, judging by your signature I'd say you live in an area where you actually use your high beams... I've owned this truck for almost 4 years now, and I can probably count on my fingers how many times I've actually been able to use my high beams... Probably without even going to the toes!

So for me, only lows wouldn't be that big of a deal... but thats just my $.02

I'm a firm believer if your gonna give me a reason why I CAN"T do something??? You better follow it with a valid reason WHY..

I have to ask why not put it on the High bulb position. I'm sure these manufactures have done extensive tests.
If not... There should be a warning on the package, or recommendation.

I would go ahead and do it.

You are right, I use my high beams a lot. Lot's of country and one lane highway driving for me.

Typically, HID's take a little time to "warm up" and come up to full brightness. For that reason alone, I would be tempted to go with another type of bulb that didn't have the noticeable "warm up" period. Add in that a lot of on/off supposedly kills them quicker and I would probably only use them in the low beams..

If you're in an area where you can have them on for minutes at a time, you'll probably be ok. If you're in an area (like me) where I'm probably lucky to have mine on a minute or two per month (if that) and when I do use the highs, they usually have to come back off real quick... No, not worth the extra $$ for HID's in the highs.. for me.

Good luck and post-up what you find and do with yours!

I have mine wired up so that the lows stay on with the highs (HIDs in both). I don't use the highs very much and only use them on county highways or backroads where there is little traffic.

Yes, there is a warm up period, but the High-4 mod takes care of being blind. I also believe that excessive on/off will kill bulbs fast.

But one thing is for sure, having all 4 on at once makes it as bright as the sun!!
