Here is the pic of the differant stlye center supports. I like the aluminum faced one better and his will have it. Not hard to notice there is much more apply surface there on that one.

It looks great to me-your the man. I "might" go ahead since i be building the 454 during the winter to be put in in spring-go ahead and make it more stouter-get head work done...get a gear change. I really do apphecate what your doing for me. I like that retainer with the spring thing-you know what your doing and i trust you to put it togather right and bullet proof. Id like to take some pics of it and put it on here-that would be cool having pics from begining to end on the rebuild of it...I don't want to cut any corners on this project-im getting up their alittle in age-and starting to think this might be my last project and i want it to last my golden years and beyond-i'll probably will the trk to my son. I might sale the monza and the 75 and ...and gather up more funds to get the good stuff on the engine and rearend-sure its not going to number matching orginal but im ok with that. Thanks Hot Rod again-Take all the pics u want and post them on here if you want.

You know I'm a pic posting whore, but pics and this site is a bad subject. I used to have some real nice write-ups here, one of them being my T400 build in that $100 Blue truck we rode in today. But when one of the mods (who is no longer a mod) got ridiculously stupid and made some false accusations, was pretty much when I quit hanging out here and I deleted my pics so those write ups are about worthless now. Soooo not likely going to be posting pics of your build, other than the good parts and the upgraded parts I was telling you about, and those will likley get deleted too after a bit of time. But yes, it'll be a good trans that should handle all you'll be throwing at it. You're right, as we get older, we have to tend to build stuff to be more durable so we don't have to work on it as often, even though another part might give us the edge, but durability becomes more important than a half a fender in the quarter mile. Example being, the T350 has advantages, but it will not last and tolerate the abuse the 400 will for the length of time a 400 will. I love T350 transmisssions, but the price you got this one, and having the good sprag drum, the case saver ring, and the better center support in my opinion, you'd be hell bent trying to find a T350 to be this durable for less than double the cost of this 400. Although, now we come to this other question? After opeing up this trans, what do you think about using that torque converter that came with it??? I'm thinking better safe than sorry. I think I'd replace the converter. Even the fluid we did see that was not contaminated with water or mud, appeared much darker than I like. A sign the trans had alot of junk flowing thru it which ends up in the converter also.

Ok on the rebuild pics-he had taped the converter and i hadent took the tape off yet and checked the fluid...But i think your right it be best to go ahead and get a new one--u know i had a thought id pass by you-on the 75-i was considering maybe to put the 454 and that 400 tranny in it and along with that 14bolt rearend it be BAD! i checked the rearend -jacked it up spined the tire and watched the yoke and i think its 373-id be able to hook up a/c back up in it and the darn thing has 3 gas tanks. Just was thinking about it-what u think?

Unlike most people, I do like 3/4 ton trucks. They sit up higher, firmer ride, stronger drivetrain parts like the driveshaft and rear end, but you will sure need those 3 gas tanks. :rollin: yeah you can put that 400 in it. Get a B&M ratchet shifter, keep that manual no shifter column in it. Use the netrual/park safety switch and back up light switches from the B&M shifter and all will be good. You do suffer some speed in the 3/4 tons though. Sitting higher is more wind drag, heavier weight with those beefier parts. But its still a bullet proof fun street/strip truck. Just plan on losing a couple tenths in the quarter if you want to drag race it. My 64 GMC 3/4 ton did high 11's low 12's depending on what I had in it at the time. Watch this high 9's old beater farm truck in OK. I have seen this guy at the track several times. He was also on pinks in Tenessee and in Dallas.

The 70 c-10 is lighter i can tell and its droped lower to the ground Its got a 12 bolt 3.08 then with 15 instead of 16 on it orginally makes it 3.17-my odometer is off 5mph. I like the u can running it hard and long all day and nothing breaks no mater darn near how much hp and torque u go up to with the 75 and its rearend. I would have a better gear with the 75 than the 70 i think my only problem would be getting any meat tires on the back for traction and on 70 its got 295s and i could go 305s i think

I don't think you wanna know how much NOS that guy is running in that old farm truck. He may burning as much NOS as he is gasoline. LOL If you look quick in the Pinks Interview when they show his motor, you can see several NOS solenoids with the cross bones on them. He got a biggo giggly juice unit on the truck. Lets call it a 500 horsepower shot. That's what it is, so I been told.
