I did not know that the ecoboost requires premium fuel.

What's weird is that the same exact engine in the SHO only makes peak power on premium. On regular, power drops a bit.

Actually, come to think of it...that's the only thing that the porky new SHO has in common with the real SHOs (1989-1995)...the proper Yamaha powered SHOs recommended premium as well. My grandparents always ran regular in theirs...and it still went like a raped ape.

God I miss that car....

I like the thought of the ecoboost. however it still a v6 so its a turn off to me like having a v6 mustang its still gonna have a v6 sound IMO

There's nothing new in the 5.0, dual VVT and DOHC V8s have been around and proven. Forced induction on gas engines have historically been unreliable and DI is still maturing. Couple that with trying to prove a V6 can do the work of a V8 and its just a long, uphill battle.

X2 on both points

the only thing this motor shares with the SHO is the cubic inches. Block is ribbed, internals are bigger, different cams, different turbos...

in your situation its perfect. but mod wise its just not as fun IMO

How do you figure? And Remember, I am not out to mod the new truck, that is why my lightning is for. But there are plenty of mods out of the ecoboost in the taurus, I dont see why this will be any different

Just for starters exhaust on a v6 just doesnt sound good to me. I mean visually everything will be the same as any other f150 but i feel as if ANYONE were wanting to mess with motor work the 5.0 would have alot easier disassembly, parts, and would be more practical

I can tell you that the underhood of the ecoboost is much more mod friendly just due to room under it. But i think people buying these likely aren't swapping heads and such. Either truck is going to be just the same when it comes to swapping air intakes, or installing a catback. I know what you mean about exhaust on a v6, which is another reason not to mod these. But, on the power note, my buddy just ran his, with crappy 3.15 gears and ran 14.9 @ 96mph, cc/sb, bone stock ecoboost.

Im not talking shit about the power it can produce by any means. i actually highly respect ford for the progress. All im saying IMO i would go 5.0 just because in almost every case (other than the buick gnx) id rather have a v8
