I've never even heard of anybody replacing all of the electronics when rebuilding a trans. Might as well just buy a new transmission. Rebuilding a trans simply means replacing the wear items. :dunno:

A trans builder recommended replacing the electronics such as shift solonoids, internal wiring harness, etc.

Is this the same guy that recommended swapping 6 lugs for 8 for better braking?

No. I thought of that by myself.

And how is that going?

If you are going through all of this with this transmission, then just consider that thing a $100 core, and go get yourself a re-man trans from Napa.

What is it going in?

Why buy new when you can restore?

I can see replacing solenoids, but probably not the wiring harness unless there's already a problem with it.

Scott, I think he said he was having some problems with the trans in his green K1500. :dunno:

Better yet go over to this site and ask him. http://www.gmsquarebody.com/forum/showgroups.php

I'm sure he will be glad to help you over there.

Already member there. Hotrodpc doesnt very much on the electronic type tranys.
Well I'll be perfectly honest here with you, if Hotrod doesn't mess with them then you certainly shouldn't attempt messing with them. That man knows transmissions and has good mechanical sense. I just fear that you would be getting in way over your head. Maybe just stick with that '67 or '69 truck you got for now. Automatic transmissions are a little more complex that changing out door hinges.

I should have also added that the reason he hasnt messed with too many of them is that all he owns is squarebody trucks. He just hasn't done enough to be expert at it like he is on the TH350 or TH400. I dont think he ever owned a gmt-400 truck.
