Doesn't look any better or worse than most everything else out there these days. In fact, it looks a lot like everything else out there.

But I do agree that it's not a thing of beauty.

The 2.5 LS is the fleet special always. Otherwise the Impala seems at or near top of class (for now). Surely ep2 has better packaging than the big on the outside cramped on the inside Explorer/Taurus platform.

What class is that; ugly full-size big-three sedan?

Huh?

Yes, I think it actually looks better than most of the others too. Avalon? Ugly. Azera? Ugly. Taurus? Ugly. Maxima isn't bad though.

All of the following, in the same size and similar price point, look better, IMO.

  • Taurus
  • MKS
  • Maxima
  • 300
  • Genesis

I'll give you the 300 (and Charger) and Genesis. I wasn't really thinking of them, just the sideways engine type.

I kind of like it. That 3.6L is a strong engine. If it can haul the Acadia around with no issues then it should do fine in the Impala. Now if only GM would offer a turbo version then it would really move. I'm surprise they are not following more in the lines of how well the Fords ECOBoost engine is doing and holding up.

RWD with an available V8. Not even some Chevy fanboy-ism would make me disconsider the Genesis in this case...

Chevy sent me an offer to come test drive a new Impala and receive a 25 dollar gift card. I just can't find the time to do it. I know I won't ever buy a new Impala, but the 25 dollar GC would be sweet
