I wondered that when you picked him. But, you never know! If Hamlin had wrecked and Martin had finished, you would've looked like the smart one. As it is, I suspect SHR (and perhaps Hendrick) is using the 14 car to "test" some things on.. As long as Martin keeps 'em in the top 35 in points, it's ok if he doesn't finish as well has he "could."

Considering Hamlin has only had one decent finish since June, it should have been a safe bet. Could have been a coin toss between him and Martin looking at recent results. Season's getting short, lots of guys picking the same drivers, make a bold choice, swing for the fences.
