I just signed up for the forum so this is my first post I want to Introduce myself my names mike. I recently just factory ordered a 2012 silverado 5.3 2wd std cab 6ft bed. I should receive the truck within the 5-6 week range. There are some thing I want to do to it right away one being a drop. I have been looking at different kits and the 4"7" has Deffintly caught my eye. I understand you have to C notch the frame which will probably void the warranty ha but I don't care. This is the kit I am looking at is this one

http://www.mcgaughystore.com/mcgaug...cab-2007-2012-4-7-deluxe-drop-kit-part-34023/

My question to you guys If you could help me out is.. Does this kit have everything I need and most importantly is it a good kit. I plan on putting black silverado SS wheels on the truck which are 20's my other concern is would the wheels rub with this drop?
If anyone has this kit please let me know I would love to know how the ride is. I have no problem sacrificing alittle comfort in the ride for style.

Thank you all for taking your time to look at this and I'm happy to be on the forum!

Welcome to the site Mike! :tmc:

1) You don't have to notch the frame for a 4/7. I see that the kit comes with the C-notches but those are not needed. I am running a 4/7 and have no problems. I am also running airshocks and Mcgaughy helper bags. You might want to look into those if you tow or haul anything.

I am running that flip kit in the rear but I have DJM 4" drop Upper and Lower control arms in the front. I like how my truck rides. Definitely a bit more rough but nothing unbearable.

2) 20's will fit no problem. I ran 275/45/20 and had no rubbing issue at all.

I wouldn't notch the frame unless you have to. My '11 Silverdao has a 4/7 McGaughy kit and I ended up selling the C- Notch because it wasn't needed. My rear tires hit the inner fenders before I contact the frame, so I decided it would be a waste to chop the frame if it wouldn't gain me anything.

Here's the thread I had going about mine. http://www.truckmodcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12547

Well that is good to hear! I would go ahead and order the kit that you are looking into. The reason I went with DJM front suspension was at the time (late 2008) they were having trouble getting the spindles to align properly but that issue has been worked out and if I were to do it again, I would order the kit you are interested in.
