Its comparable to every other truck out there, i expected much better....

Baby steps!
The first "alternative" engine in a full sized modern truck is not going to suddenly have 400 HP and magically make a 5000 pound brick get 30 MPG. A 10-20% improvement over the competition with those power numbers is impressive.

Do any of the other trucks tested even have 3.15 gears? if they are not all the same ratio and weight, the 1-2mpg gain is negligible.
