I got one for four hundred and I think I want the lcd screen instead because I wont always use my phone and tusing the phone lags alot and if I buy at bestbuy it's free install

If you can get a 5904 INSTALLED for $400, that you better jump on it. They normally charge twice that. Also, just a heads up: Free doesn't always mean free. Be prepared for them to add on another $100-125 for a bypass module (that really only costs $40-50), and other charges for relays, connectors, and "shop supplies". They might even try to tack on more labor charges to install the bypass, which is really no extra work if they are installing the remote start anyways. Just be aware of what you are paying for.

That depends on if your AC is automatic. Do you have to turn the AC on every time you get in your truck and start it? Or will it automatically start blowing at the last settings you left it on when you last
drove the truck? Mine will blow the AC when I remote start it if I left the AC on. Or it will blow heat if I left it on heat. But some newer vehicles with automatic climate control will reset the climate control to off whenever you shut off the vehicle. If yours does that, then the remote starter will NOT blow hot OR cold. You will have to physically turn the AC on after you start the engine.

I never run mine in automatic, ever. Most of the time it is just in the off position, altogether. Each time I remote start in summer, and the cab is hot (yesterday for instance) it will kick the A/C on high, anyway. Even in winter, and I haven't left the defrost on, it kicks it on high defrost.

I have wondered what the thresholds are

Scott, do you have a factory remote start or aftermarket? I know the factory one is more integrated than an aftermarket one can be. For i?nstance, Nissan OEM remote starts will turn on the heated seats and steering wheel if the temperature is below 32°
An aftermarket can only do so much. Unless some of the newer anti-theft bypass modules can control more stuff thru the databus. I know modules are available that will control the doorlocks, trunk, and power windows all by simply connecting one wire to the databus module. I have heard that some can turn on the rear defroster and heated seats now if the temp is below a certain point. Maybe they will be controlling the AC/Heat next. :dunno:

Factory. As far as I know, all GMT900s have factory remote start.

When I was at the local installer, he mentioned a "piggy back" system that Viper made that integrated an alarm, and extended range for the factory system. I have been meaning to look into that.

Its optional on some and standard on the higher end models.
And yes, Viper does a a system like that now. Its basically a full fledged Viper alarm, but it can control your OEM remote start instead of adding an entirely new remote start unit. Saves a ton of install time for the installer too. So you have the benefit of an extended range (usually up to 1/2 mile, although they claim 1 mile) Viper alarm with 2 way communication, and Viper impact sensor (and any other sensors you want to add) and still keep and control your factory remote start with the Viper remotes.
