1999 GMC Speedometer?

My uncle recently bought a 99 GMC pickup. He says the speedometer doesn't work. Do these clusters have the stepper motors like most of the other newer GM trucks?

Scottyboy if this is something you repair, let me know and I'll see if he can take it out and ship it to you.
