I'm too crazy to choose a custom title !!!
If this happened after jump starting the car, it is very likely a blown ignition relay. I am not sure how to test them, but I would replace it first if it were me.
Ok I'll try to find that too.

Damn that sucks. I've seen them go I line for half that. If all you have to pay is 100 then your in good shape if it turns out to be that or multiple things.
Sent from my overly sofisticated electronic device.

Ok .....car has been in the shop for a month ! Still don't know the problem . Shop put a new distributer in it ...still no fire . They have been tracing wires forever but can't find anything . I've been thinking maybe a bad ground , but they seem to think they are all fine .
I just want it to run so we can sell it !

I used to have a 88 Cavalier. I installed an amp using 10 gauge wire. A guy at the mechanic shop next door to my work said that every time he has seen someone add an amp to one of those small GM cars, electronic parts start immediately failing for some reason. I ignored him because I thought he was full of shit. But sure enough, a little over a week later I got stranded. It turned out to be the ignition control module. I replaced it, and kept the amp hooked up too, and it was fine as long as I owned the car. To this day, I am not sure if the amp created a surge or something that caused it to fail, or if it was just a coincidence.![]()
