Re: 100,000 Mile Maintenance

:ohnoes: Damn, this thread. Now I have to consider doing brake, power steering, tranny fluid changes, and a damn coolant flush. I already did the rear diff about 12K ago with Amsoil, and I did the plugs and wires around 6K ago.

Done yet? :)

Nope. I figure I'll just drive down and let you take care of it for me.

You are more than welcome to come down Jeff, bring the wife, we are only an hour from the beach.

If she doesn't go to FLA like she usually does, I may consider doing this. :dunno:

Re: 100,000 Mile Maintenance

Jeff, so it is stating to change the diff fluids at 150k and not sooner? That is a long time, for the cost I would just stick with 100k mile changes unless you haul or tow a good bit then bump it down to 50k.

Don't hardly tow anymore. I'll probably do all the fluids here soon, then change them in another 100k or so (Diffs & TC)

Re: 100,000 Mile Maintenance

I flushed the system the best I could a while ago and switched out my PS fluid for Amsoil ATF like Nick had recommended

How long can you go with the Amsoil in your Diffs? Or what's the recommended interval?

100k miles was what I read in my manual back when I had my truck. I did mine cause I was pretty sure it had never been done at 114k.

Other stipulations are
If it's leaking
or if its been submerged in water at any point
there was one other one but I can't think of it right now.
anyway here's my thread on how to do the rear. The front is very similar but I think it has a drain or a fill plug for easier access.

Awesome thanks Zach!

let me know if you have questions.
Oh and be sure to invest in some gloves and that orange stuff for cleaning your hands. that gear lube smells horrible and takes hours to get off with soap:tmc:

Re: 100,000 Mile Maintenance

Well getting the Spark Plugs changed on Monday. Gonna cost me $379, honestly not bad. I don't have the time or resources to do it myself seeing how it is my Daily Driver.

I am going to order the Amsoil here shortly. I'll have time to do all the fluids after graduation

I'm doing Diffs, Transmission, Transfer Case, & Power steering fluid :synad:

Gonna do brakes, bleed the brakes, & coolant this summer probably. I need to hit up :bbp: for some brake quotes.
