OMG 1/4 turn???? umm.. wow dont drive it any more... if its that extreme you will just destroyed the ring and pinion gear. Either they didnt set the pinion depth correctly or the ring gear is not shimmed correctly...

you should be able to just grab the pinion and slightly move it back and fourth.. not 1/4..... wow! Check and see if the pinion nut is tight.

Do you think the install kit I listed earlier will be all that is needed to fix it? What about the Locker? Is it worth keeping it or should I ditch it?

The kit will definitaly help the rear out! i wouldnt trust the pinion bearing if it has that much play.. could be damaged now. Id say yes to the kit... but you will still need to tighten up the pinion to ring gear clearance. If the locker is in good shape id say keep it!!

Oh god man, yes there is a ringgear backlash issue. It's all in the side shims. Do not drive

well we will find out end of next week then. I think I will order it monday

If you HAVE to have your truck this week... you can try moving shims around... but if not i wouldnt worry about it til you are ready to do the whole thing.

I am going to swap my 3.42 rear end back in andthe VCM for those gears till i get the parts and the time. Construction is starting to pick up aswell as Odd tranny jobs, so hopefully this coming weekend I willl get to work on it.
