You could do that... is there any differences in the axle housings?? like disc brakes to drum or ect? You could always unbolt that new gear and bolt it up to your old carrier.. and then stick new bearings in it.... but make sure you move the pinion with it.. do not mismatch.

Thats what I am thinking about doing. I havent had a chance to chuck the damaged carrier in the lathe to check for out of roundness yet. But from the picture wouldnt you think there could be an issue there?

Edit no there is no difference in the 2 differential housing both have the same brakes.

there COULD be... depends how hard the rear end locked up when the spider gears gave away.. if thats what happened...

i would get it checked.. or just swap with the good one. usually carriers explode in parts tho.. lol.. ive got one in my garage now thats in 3 pieces.
