Here's pics. I didn't realize how filthy it was till I started taking pictures.
I can't believe no one has done this already. the company I work for has a fleet of tahoes for sales people and none of them have the 3rd row installed. I think this would be a good seller if someone can commercialize it.
I could remove the second row completely and just use the 3rd row, but then its waaay back there. If I can pull the 2nd row completely out and use the 3rd row seats bolted in somewhere between where the 2nd and 3rd normally sit it would be perfect. plenty of leg room, still have the drop in the floorboard so it's not sitting on the floor the way the 3rd row does.

I don't see any real way to move those seats. That made into the floor stuff would be a bitch to cut out and move... but I,m sure it's possible if you want to do a little cutting and welding.

Like Jim said, how comfortable are you with welding? To be honest unless you're a professional fabricator I wouldn't feel comfortable with it. We're talking about how your kids seat secures to the vehicle, imagine what one weak weld would do if the vehicle were in an accident. If you feel comfortable you could probably put a drop bracket on the front of the seats and move a few of the pieces around on the floor and make it work. Only question would be if there is reinforcement under there to make sure it's secure and if that same reinforcement exists where you plan to move them to.

OK, let me clarify. I don't want to BUILD anything. I want to BUY something and install it. of all the aftermarket, bolt-on, upgrade type stuff available for tahoes I figure someone out there is making such a bracket.
Here is a basic markup of what I'm thinking. Keep the laughter to a minimum, paint is is the only program I have. It could use all the factory hooks to attach it to the body, made correctly it would be a snap-in like the seats.

I doubt very seriously this is going to happen without you doing the fabrication. Too much liability for such a very tiny market for anybody to be building it to sell. This is a totally custom job idea.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
:werd: I think what you propose would work, but you'd have to get it fabbed up.

And it wouldn't be that hard or expensive, as far as steel/welding is concerned. But I don't know if I'd feel comfortable in the event of a crash. :(

Like Jim says, I'm guessing the lack of aftermarket solutions is telling you something . . .

how about taking out the second row seats and putting the 3rd row back in? your kid would need 5 foot legs to touch the back of your chair

No offense intended here, but why not just make the kid stop kicking the seat?

He's 13 months old, I can't make him do sh!t he doesn't want to do already. Takes after his mother...
I've been managing people for long enough to know it's easier on everyone involved to eliminate the opportunity for problems than it is to train anyone to avoid them. Maybe not the best, cheapest, or even correct way, but always easier. Gotta know where to pick your battles.
