'05 Durango

Need some opinions on a 05 durango.. Our 96 tahoe has 295k on it and i just don't know how much longer its goin to last. Our local dealer has a 05 durango ST, 2wd, cloth, with the 3.7 V6, 100k.. Just wondering if the V6 is worth a shit or if anyones had problems with the 05 durango in general.. They are asking $5,500 and will give me $1000 for mine ( which 3 and a half years ago i gave $2000 for it)

So should i up grade or just keep tahoe.

RUN AWAY screaming from ANYTHING with a Chrysler V6 in it. Every one of them is a ticking time bomb... If you don't believe me... GOOGLE IT!

The 3.7 is one of the worst engines Chrysler ever made. Only the 2.7 V6 sucks more. You WILL regret ever owning it.

I'd invest in fixing the current one or finding an 01-05 Tahoe to replace it with. You'll be much happier in the long run. If you are going to buy a high mile V6 SUV, buy a Nissan or Toyota.

You would be better off taking half that money and investing it into the Tahoe. It would be a much more reliable vehicle and you would have a lot more money in your pocket. Even the v8 can kill you on repairs and gas in comparison to the Tahoe. My Aunt has a 4.7? V8 and hers was parked at 160k miles. She hated that she ever bought it. She had a Astro van previously that had over 360k miles until she hit her 4th deer that totaled it.

If you were able to get a new durango, it would be a different story.

I agree with Jim.

Take an 01-05 Hoe with an LS engine.

Will run twice as long as the Dodge V6.

Well just talked to a guy whos parents traded it in. They got rid of it cause it needs a timing set put in and dodge was going to charge them $4000 to do so. I just priced one and i'm not goin to spend $500 on a damn timing set. So i gues we can put a stop to that idea!! Thanks for the info guys!

The 3.7 and 4.7 sucks. Poor design makes these two the worst engines made when it comes to oil sludge and oil pressure issues. If you go 100,000 miles without needing new heads your lucky.
