    12mm Socket

If you want Dave, I'll check my spares to see if I have 1. I'll mail it to you. I have to have 12pt sockets for transmissions and I find sockets in cars all the time in the impound yard when we have auctions and clean out the cars. I might just have a spare I can cut loose of.

    03 taurus won't stay running

Letting it sit then it works isn't bad gas. I'm with Matt, probably a sticky IAC. Didn't throw and codes? Maybe even a TPS. Just saying, don't be surprised if this issue doesn't show it's face again. Good news is, if it's just idle, at least you won't be stranded somewhere. Whudda you doing with...

    Overdrive help

Did you ever get this fixed Dave? What did it end up being? I'm sure it's electrical and should have been a relatively easy fix. Just a matter of tracking it down. I could even be the button in the end of the shift stick. Should only be one OD solenoid.

    Project Battle Notch

That's part of racing, anyone can be beat. Daddy Dave even got beat out of town not long ago. I've seen 13 second cars beat 10 second cars. Of course in those cases the 10 second car blew his intake off the motor. Sometimes the bottle is overlooked and not turned on. Sometimes a guy gets caught...

Great one to wake up John. So what's the latest on this project? Did anyone see Big Ballers crash last weekend in OK at TVRP for the No Prep races?

    My new 84 Chevy K10

I have a feeling that's where you're problem is going to be. It is the most common failure for headlights not working after the headlight switch itself.

    My new 84 Chevy K10

So is that when you put the pedal to the floor as if the linkage is moving a wire, or just accelerating in general and wire swinging toward the back of the truck just from moving? Being an 84, I know your bright lights are on the turn signal multifunction switch. Have you played with the...

    Equus gauges

Did you ever get these installed??? For the money they're not bad at all. You made the right choice to go with the 8000 series in my opinion. I prefer full sweep gauges anytime I have a choice. They tend to be more accurate too since they are on a bigger scale.

    Rearend ID?

Hey Mark, So I only missed your thread by a couple months over a year, but.... You're correct, it's a 3.07 Ratio and is a 12 bolt. The KAC code means that axle came from a C10 1974-77 & 1979 3.07 non-locking. So the code says it's an open differential, and could have been from a 74, 75,76, 77...

    My new 84 Chevy K10

So then how will you access the front 5 feet? I assume reach over? And you're talking about a 6 inch lift and tire? You're going to need an 8 foot step ladder to be able to get access. :dunno:

    My new 84 Chevy K10

I've never heard such a thing. Unless you're talking about the OLDER 350 starters. Alot of guys get this newer gear reducted started so they have a bit more cranking power when the motor is hotter from advanced timing, and the smaller starter also will allow more air around it, so I'm not sure...

    My new 84 Chevy K10

Noone like the location of these starters. A sorta fix for that issue, get a starter and solenoid off of a 96 or newer 350 from the DIY salvage yards. They are high torque, pull less juice, have more power and are about 30% smaller giving you more room and getting the solenoid away from the...

    My new 84 Chevy K10

I like where you're going with it though. Don't forget the upgraded Alternator, the Big 3 upgrade and things like that to power the Compressor, Inverter, and off-road lighting.

    My new 84 Chevy K10

So is this build list an actual doing list or a dream list??? I'll assure you we can tweek it and save some funds along the way. No axle upgrades huh other than the lockers??? Why selectable locker in the rear??? I'd go the other way around. Detroit Locker in the rear, and air locker in the...

Hey Robert... I haven't been here in awhile. I happened to have been subscribed to this thread and someone woke it up. It was a Ferd anyway. No big loss dudes. How's the Nova runnin'??? New car hauler

So did you get into any of the races with the 405 Street Outlaws Robert? Get to hang out with Boosted GT and his boys at all??? I had heard about this new Street Racing show coming on Discovery Channel, but had no idea I'd know half the people in it. 3 of those guys have shops in the AirPark...

    2nd Opinion:Antifreeze/Water Usage

Then quit spending your disability check on action figures or tools you won't use and get that damn thing at least running. Even if it isn't pretty, get it running. Just like this, if your high mileage daily driver breaks down, you at least need something to get to town and get parts. I got...

    What is a “self-adjusting” clutch?

Back in the 80's GM used a self adjust clutch that was cable operated on S-10's. It was like a plastic ratchet mounted to the clutch pedal assembly and as the clutch disk would wear, the plastic part could grab another tooth and have more bite with the clutch pedal until there were not more...

    Turbo 350 trans probs HELP

Th350's never had a problem breaking sunshells so a Beast wasn't made for the Th350. The biggest thing and #1 failure on the Th350 is the intermediate race gear breaking. You can get a hardened race relatively cheap, but get a good one, not a China made one. The stronger race will help the...

    2nd Opinion:Antifreeze/Water Usage

Been down that road with him too. Trying to figure out what a $5 rusted up wheel went to so he could sell it on CL. He needs to get him an older very basic non computer controlled truck that's cheap on parts, easy to work on, not very complicated and that's easy to get parts for.

    2nd Opinion:Antifreeze/Water Usage

Thanks for letting me know I didn't read all 13 pages. I wasn't trying to give him a hard time, he gets enough of that here. I just do that when he comes to GMSB. Living out there in the sticks and having an older high mileage vehicle, you should consider getting you another back up...

    2nd Opinion:Antifreeze/Water Usage

Ahhhh OK. I figured it would be common sense if you have it tore down that far to do both upper and lower. Kinda like when you replace a timing cover gasket, you replace your front seal too whether it leaks or not. Water Pump done yet? It's not your lower intake gasket leaking. Chances are the...
