Guess I have been gone awhile. Not hard to figure out that you finally got a new ride. Just to show you how smart I am. It must not have a 454 this time and it has a 6.2 in it.

Whew !!! Yeah, thanks for the update. I was beggining to think I'd never see my engine stand again. I've got a Chev 350 on the stand I have here, and I hope early next month to be tearing down the Olds 455 Motor for my 85 C20. I just bought a CUCV 14 bolt Full Float rear end with 4.56 gears...

93 Ford E-350 OKC to Abilene & Back

Bernie likes long detailed stories. He requested it. I rarely have problems with this kind of trip. I also moved them there almost 3 years ago in the same truck. I have never ever had a problem with that truck and when I replaced the starter, it was just because it didn't sound right, not...

93 Ford E-350 OKC to Abilene & Back

Here's your long story Bernie. My SIL accepted a seperation offer from the AF, so I was taking my Box Van and 18ft tandem axle trailer to Abilene, TX (Dyess, AFB) to move them back to OKC. I've owned this truck for 12 years now, never done a thing to it except oil and fluid changes, a battery...

Sure wish I had some cash laying around to buy that 66. You start getting to many projects and the wife starts complaining, you can park that 66 over here and I'll babysit it for you. Just be sure you leave the keys too, JUST INCASE, I might need to move it for some reason. :naughty:

Pics!!! - of the '66 Chevy stepside

Hey Alan ?? I finally got my hoist behind the gate. Thanks for the carbs. You are right. Of the 2, I can probably make 1 when I get ready for it. Hope that Monza radiator worked out for you. It appeared to be in nice shape. So how is the 66 running with the new motor? I was telling Ducky, we...

My dads 160 acres is in Okemah, so there are a couple other Okies on here too that could prolly show up. Even the Stillwater guys although they are OSU fans, we'll go ahead and allow them too. :) We better anyway, seems like OSU, OU and Texas are all gonna be buddies to get thru this Big 12...

Hows it coming Duck??? Need to get it running soon. One of these days in the next month or 2 we need to get together with 66stepside and go out to my dads property, hang out and have a ball scratch with a few beers, ATV riding, fishing poles and campfire next to the pond. My dad has been...

Hahaha, I got to thinking about that the other day. I walked out in the garage and I thought, what the hell is missing? I don't have spare floor space in my garage and I started thinking, oh shit, what was there? Did some break in a steal something? Then I seen the Olds 455 block sitting on the...

Sup JeemC & Bonez. Just dropping in to make sure the local guys got their projects working or in order. Ducky is about 45 minutes away 1 direction, and 66stepside is about 30 minutes another direction. Just don't hang out here much anymore. Seems I must be some kind of ignorant asshole on forums...

Money still tight Ducky??? I know, same here. I haven't been able to work on any of my trucks. I have decided to cut down from the 7 80-86 models, to just keeping 3 of them. Parting out and scrapping the rest after I get the parts I can use off of them. I am keeping the 84 and 85 2wd 3/4 tons...

    78 Chevy Monza

Yep. Are you sure it even needs a bore? If the cylinders are still up to spec, you can just rering it too. I'd also try to avoid those 305 heads. I know, some will tell you that raises the compression ratio, and true that. BUT, they are small valves, and very small ports that will not flow well...

NO, do not go .090 over on a 350 block. At least not without a sonic test, but I say no anyway. One good overheat, and goodbye block. I'd stick to no more than .060 at max. I really prefer .040 for a daily driver type, but .060 can be achieved easily in most cases.

    78 Chevy Monza

Doesn't sound like you needed long slot rockers for that cam, but you have them now should you decide to go bigger someday. I'll also add, as light as that car is, don't be suprised if you don't get 2200 stall out of it. Being you said its 2200-2600 it might, but I have never seen such a range...

    78 Chevy Monza

I didn't really want anything for it. I could have scrapped it, or used it for my engine test stand, but since it fit your car, I can find another radiator for testing engines. But I can always put a carb to use one way or another with all my vehicles.

Did you get the heads done by Burt at Moore Machine? If so, swing my house and get that Monza Radiator. If I am not here, just reach in the bed of the Silver/Blue 85 K10 truck in the driveway. My neighbors may come out with a gun, but if its the right one, he can't hit the red side of a barn...

No, I haven't. I used B&M Shift Kits back in the day. Many performance trans builders prefer Trans Go Kits. Of course Trans Go kits are more complicated to install too. B&M shift improver kits for like Turbo 350 and Turbo 400 can be very harsh shifting and why some people don't like them, but...

I am not saying the timing is all to do with the heat issue either. What kind of guage are you using Allen? Guess I can't refer to you as 66 now, which 66? Did you ever get a bigger radiator? I find it hard to believe electric fans didn't keep it cool. Maybe not big enough. I sure like electric...

Thats pretty cool. No pun intended. Looks like some parts from Home Depot in the gardening section, but whatever works. It should bring in plenty of air. You can get alot more than 16 degrees of mechanical advance. Your mechanical advance comes from your centrifical weights and springs on the...

    78 Chevy Monza

Timing to far advanced will cause overheat or to run warm. I could be wrong, but just from memory, seems to me timing should be about 4-6 degress BTDC. You could also have a differant requirement due to your cam specs, so it may be right, but if you are overheating, retarding the timing a bit...
