Converting my MOPAR to a pointless and HEI ignition, Questions

I looked at that. But I can get a brand new OE style pointless distributor for $40. apparently they were both offered at the same time.

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

Like I said, for a later subject. I think what I have planned for the full frame off will be very cool. :naughty:

Converting my MOPAR to a pointless and HEI ignition, Questions

I see where you are going. The problem is the ignition on this truck has left us on the side of the road more than once already. at the very least I have got to get rid of the points.

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

Funny you should mention a 4BT. That is another subject matter I am saving for later. I am so use to this truck having the 2bbl I just cannot imagine it doing anything more. I see your point about the need issue. If that was the case none of my truck would ever be anything other than stock.

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

That is what I was thinking. Although, all I want if better mileage and the ability to pull my loaded trailer around and uphills without drama.

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

I was worried about the cast iron intake.

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

Small bore engine does not need a 4bbl for what I plan to do with the truck.

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

I found a 3/4 Dodge with a 360 in a local salvage yard. I am pretty sure it is mid 80s. It has a cast iron intake with a 4bbl Quadrajet sitting on it. The owner said I can have the carb and intake for $50. Dos this sound like a good move?

Converting my MOPAR to a pointless and HEI ignition, Questions

I agree. For right now I am just getting the truck together. I will have a period of time where I fine tune my upgrades. When I do the frame off, I will upgrade everything.

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

Believe it or not, two of my ASE certified friends told me to keep the stock 2bbl. Now, I have noticed a lot of ASE guys prefer stock for some reason.

Converting my MOPAR to a pointless and HEI ignition, Questions

I am finally ditching my point style distributor on my 72 318. While I am at it I want to install a GM HEI system as well. I know there are a lot of write ups on this subject matter. But I have also seen conflicting information. I just need some clarification on the exact parts I need. I will...

Need some input on swapping my 318 from a 2bbl to a 4.

Funny thing here. When I was set on keeping the 2bbl no one agreed with me. Now that I am looking at a 4bbl swap I have found there are some adamantly against it.

    Project: Papa’s Dodge, stage one.

Today’s journey began as I passed a salvage yard and noticed they had an old ¾ ton Dodge truck sitting out front that had not been processed yet. I picked up this trailer plug and tried to buy other parts. The front E load rang tires looked decent but he wanted $60 a piece. I need a spare but...

Not bad shape considering their age.

    Project: Papa’s Dodge, stage one.

That is possible. But it is rare for some one to change diff tag when they change gears.

    Project: Papa’s Dodge, stage one.

Got back to work on the Dodge. I pulled the carrier and hosed out a lot of the slime. What concerns me is the metal chunks I found. They are not big but there is a bunch. This debris is not from normal wear and tear. The confusing part is nothing looks damaged. All the teeth and bearings look...

That is what I though when I first saw them. I figured they came from a tractor.
