Just had a 2011 2500 pop up at a local dealer.... have to go check it out, but damn these things are all priced a few thousand above bluebook. I really am not looking forward to a big monthly payment!
They ended up selling the 8.1 that my buddy checked out... not heart broken, more will come along. All I have to do is wait another month for the gas tax increase to go into effect in NJ and no one will want to keep their 11mph guzzlers!
I was getting excited about owing a beast like that.... buddy checked the truck out for me since its a 2hr drive away. Has some issues, so not as excited. Might check it out on my way home from vacation in 2 weeks if its still there, but looks like the search continues
Found a 2004 Yukon XL 2500 SLT 8.1L with 140k miles (1 owner). Probably gonna check it out this week.... that's one vehicle that won't flinch at a small lift, 33s, and towing 7k lol
Lol yeah, those crazy ones are good for some quick fun every now and then
I do need either a YDXL or 2500 for next summers planned vacation. We'll have 7 + cargo going to the northern tip of OBX.
That's why I'm thinking of swapping the Jeep for an older YDXL. It'll take care of...
I saw that one in Dallas... has a bit much done to it which always makes me question previous owners reason for selling.
Is the 2012 a Denali XL??? :)
For value dropping, it only matters in the sense that I won't be towing this year, and maybe next year at the earliest. So if I don't...
Has anyone heard anything about 2500 Suburbans coming back in 2017 or 2018? They made the 3500s for fleet use this year.... I'm thinking I could get screwed if I seek out a "rare" suburban 2500 now, then they release the new ones and everyone trades in their 7 year old 2500s for the new model...
That's a lot closer than I am to it! :zembonez:
Going to do some searching down south... I'd imagine they're probably more common in places like Texas, and have less corrosion from salt.
I'm getting the sense that I can't really go wrong with either, and that I have a handle of the pros/cons of each. In which case, it probably comes down to which vehicle I find first in the condition I want and at a price I can afford....
Appreciate the help everyone! Glad to see there still...
Ride can't be worse than my lifted commander :dunno:
Lol in all seriousness it'll get me back and forth to work everyday (about 22 mile round trip). The minivan is the main kid hauler. I have to baby the jeep to get 12mpg so mileage won't hurt me too much... I'd probably get better mileage...
6L80E vs 6L90E, and 3.42 vs 3.73 (4.10 option?) rear, correct?
I feel like I missed the boat on this one which was in the next town over.... basically an 8 seater Denali 2500 4x4...
Used 2010 Chevrolet Suburban LT 2500 4x4 for sale in Lakewood, NJ | TSJ Auto Brokers
Unfortunately not an option. The vehicle purchase/setup will already be pushing our limit.... if I had $60k to put into a truck I'd be holding off another year or two since they're supposed to bring back the 2500 series.
I've considered getting an older one just to get by, then get a used 2018...
Honestly I'd prefer selectable 4x4 too... but the 6.2L AWD SD gets better mileage than the 6.0L 4x4 2500. Hence I really wish GM put the 6.2L in a 4x4 Suburban for a "Max tow package", but they didnt, so here I am. :(
Planning a tow behind like attached.... just enough to sleep everyone inside if it's raining, otherwise let the kids sleep in tents outside (when old enough).
Will the 6.0L actually tow better than the 6.2L? Or is the extra capacity of the 2500 from the increased GRAWR and suspension...
Yup... we're spending too much money to do this wrong, so I want to make sure we're set for at least the next 10 years. Kids are currently 6, 5, 3 and 1 year old; this needs to be the last tow/family hauler I buy. Will take at least 5 years to pay off, go another 5 without payments, don't want...
Thanks for the kind welcome! I'll have to poke around a bit to see what this place is like :D2
We won't be towing much... maybe 2 or 3 times a year. With a family of 6 fully loaded i figured the extra capacity of the 2500 would be necessary, but it's probably more suspension/brakes than it is...
