Here is a pic of the old pads I took off of the Caddy...
They had 110,000 miles on 'em...
I changed them because of vibration when brakes would heat up.

All high speed highway miles

A good portion of the miles were highway miles....
I don't use the brakes very much... :dunno:
I use the horn and the accelerator...  :rollin:

Its interesting that you mentioned that. My '12 seems to stop much better than my other 2 GMT900 trucks did. I assumed that it had been 4 years since having a new truck so it was just part of having everything new again.

Lots of miles left on those pads Jim

Yep, you are right... but they had a bad vibration... especially when they got hot.
I changed them to a new pad formula that GM developed.

Do they look visibly different? Are they a Caddy only pad or for other GM vehicles as well?

They look the same... it is just a different chemical / pad material combination, to stop the pad transfer to the rotors so the vibration is eliminated.

On this last trip... with a good bit of mountain driving, never did have any sign of brake fade.

I would ASSUME that if you got new AC DELCO pads, they would be the new formula... unless they had been setting on the shelf a long time.

The new pad material was developed sometime in early 2008.
