Saw this '51 Ford F1 some weeks ago. Was repowered with a turbocharged Perkins 4-236 and an NV4500.

Perkins swaps were a hit from the 70's to the 80's, and even the agricultural versions were widely used. It's still not so unusual to find some old trucks fitted even with the square-sump 4-203 often called "8BR" after the Ford 8BR tractor that was also fitted with this engine...

I tried to buy an ols aircraft tug fitted with a Perkins a few years ago. I wanted the engine for a very similar biuld. I thought that old oil burner would do great in an old truck. I guess my idea was not orginal after all. But, I do see it was a good idea none the less.

That's a nice Malibu. A former neighbor of mine had a purple one...

Back there the 6-354 might have been more usual, and actually wouldn't be so bad on performance (have been used in the Chevy C60 back here).
