Might cut it on 4 sides and hinge it rather than bending if I were you.

That sucks man. Hope you get it fixed up soon. The myth that lower fuel levels shorten pump life is a funny one. Every in tank fuel pump is cooled by the fuel flowing through it... not so much the fuel around it. It does make sense that a submerged pump would cool somewhat better, but you have to be really really low on fuel for it to be exposed anyway.

Good to see you here though. :tmc:

I agree, I also think that low fuel levels causing early pump death is a myth. Besides, I believe the GMT800+ trucks have a small container around the pump that is kept full of fuel to help this sort of thing.

Also, don't cut out a trapdoor in the bed. Get some sawhorses and call over three buddies to help you pick up the bed and move it. Really easy.

I did it myself the first time and would have loved to have help or an access panel. As it is right now its crippley me and 1 friend, no other help, or sawhorses. And yeah it's 8 bolts, a couple wires harnesses and a ground wire to move the bed, but an access panel would be great if it happens again. Would be nice if I had one now, wouldn't need help, I could do it myself.:fume:

Will take pics if we cut it, and will hinge it with a rubber gasket also. Thanks. :tmc:

Does this mean you asked them to help since your last post?

Do you have access to a cable hoist (come-a-long) to hang from an overhead rafter in a garage, or even a tree?

When I pull beds, I do it by myself. I use 2 webbed straps right through the wheel wells under the bed. With the tailgate off, it is perfectly balanced at that point.

Why do you need help cutting an access hole? Unless you're unable to do it because of your back, I can't see why it'd take more than one person. :dunno:
