Today was slow at work so I started to tinker with the mud truck, mostly to remedy the battery drain issue( damn clock in radio stays on constant) and ended up building a snorkel so I can run the truck harder and deeper( sounds kinda kinky don't it:naughty:)

Started by telling myself I wouldnt regret cutting big holes in the truck if I fWONked up because replacement parts are cheap, then proceded to use a hole saw on the firewall.

Mocked up the upper tubing:

Missed taking pics of the next couple steps but it kinda went like this....Used hole saw to start hole, broke off pilot bit, replaced and broke 2nd pilot bit, used die grinder with cutoff wheel to make initial hole in cowl, smoothing out with pencil grinder. Then using hot wrench( oxy acetylene) to cut through cab/firewall steel, set cowling plastic on fire.....twice, douced fire with garden hose and smoothed out hole with pencil grinder.

Pieced together for dry fit and bracket fab.

Reused previous intake parts( stock filter case, and intake tube from an 1986 6.2L diesel) added a foot of 4" vacuum hose and clamps.

Didnt want to suck a sparrow into intake so made a screen from expanded steel

Finished screen painted and installed

Still don't have a damned clue. Thinking its a weak fuel pump or the Seafoam I put in fuel worked something loose and was cloging fuel line. Drove it home 7 miles and no issues...going to buy another fuel pump and keep it around just in case.
