Running rich

i know i have been out of pocket for a while but i am having a problem with my truck running to rich i have a 91 chevy silverado with a 97 vortec with the 91 tbi setup when its cold it wont run past 3200. If I thottle about half way down does the same thing its starts bogging or cutting out on me.When its warm it wont let me go over 3500 but it does let me give it full throtte i don't even know where to start looking cause its a swap any ideas would help thanks

I do have a new chip and fuel pump and 18 Psi pressure regulator

I haven't had any trouble with my TBI system so I may not be any help but....the Haynes manual says 9-13 psi on the fuel pressure,maybe the regulator is letting too much fuel in?:dunno:

Have you tried removing the chip to see if it works better when put back to stock form?I wonder if the ignition module is getting ready to go.Is the timing wire(the one you dis-connect to set the timing connected? :dunno:

T. Jim might know more on these systems than I do maybe he'll chime in.....

I'd have gone with SFI setup on the '97 and been done with it.

I think 18 PSI is too much...
Like Gary said...9 to 13...
At 18 PSI, it could be forcing too much fuel into the engine.

its got a vortec long block only thing different is the gm intake to TBI setup but

Could be a couple things IMO. Too much pressure, throttle position sensor or MAP sensor all sound like likely candidates to cause the issues your explaining.
