That's the plus side to only having a 7 mile commute to work, I can wait till the light comes on and I'm still close to the gas station! The one I use is right outside the neighborhood, and on the way to the grocery store, so I pass it all the time.

It'll work even if you do half a tank or $5 or whatever. I tend to wait until I need to fill the whole tank unless we're going on a road trip. That's what all the high spikes are, and most of those are fill ups on the way to/from the lake.

TX, where else should I be?
What kind of trend line is that? I tried to get something similar but couldn't figure out what you did. Is that the 2 period average? I'm slowly getting the hang of Excel's more technical features. I got spoiled by having JMP for a long time.

The MPGs are a 6th order polynomial and price is a 5th order. I just played around with different trend/regression types till I found one I liked.

JMP?

I didn't get the 93 tune for mileage, I got it for power!

Remember, most of my driving is City, and it's a lifted 4x4 with over sized wheels and tires, not exactly the combination you want if you're shooting for decent MPGs. On top of that, I don't grandma the truck on the road, typical shift point RPMs are 3500-4000 with a couple WOT runs.

When I made the MPG graph I used the raw data, not the data adjusted for the over sized tires. Corrected for tire size, this is closer to the truth for my average MPGs:

A little better. Since I fill up 95% of the time at 1 gas station (I go so far as to use the same pump, far right up front) and 5% at an other, and always Shell, I figure I get pretty good numbers.

Ok, I gotcha. I completely forgot about that line.

JMP is an expensive version of Excel that has many more bells and whistles like 3D plotting, etc. I think it is also easier to use but that is because it was the first spreadsheet program I ever used.

Advancing timing improves both performance and mileage by increasing overall efficiency. I know someone who made a turbocharged civic that got over 50 mpg on the highway. He advanced timing, made it run dangerously lean, etc. It was a really cool experiment while it lasted.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
We had to use JMP for the statistics class I had to take in college. I never wanted to actually 'kill' a computer program before.

Don't remember anything about it other than that

Yeah, at first it is the most evil program one could ever use.

I'm not even sure what we were trying to do with it. Stat was one of those classes I just treated water in. :dunce:
